Adwoa Safo stable and responding to treatment after alleged shooting incident

Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is in stable condition and responding positively to medical treatment following an alleged shooting incident linked to a leadership dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission.

The update was provided by the Kwadwo Safo family in a statement issued on Monday, June 22, 2026.

“The family wishes to assure members of the Kristo Asafo Mission, relatives, friends, sympathisers and the public that Adwoa Safo is currently in a stable condition and responding positively to medical treatment,” the statement said.

According to the family, the incident occurred when Ms. Safo attempted to serve court documents on her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, as part of an ongoing dispute over the succession of the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

The family alleged that Israel Safo fired a gun several times in Adwoa Safo’s direction and instructed others at the scene to open fire on her vehicle. It said the matter has been reported to law enforcement authorities for investigation.

The alleged shooting marks the latest development in a growing dispute over the leadership of the mission following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo in September 2025.

The family maintained that Adwoa Safo was appointed head of the family by the late founder and was carrying out responsibilities assigned to her before his death. It also reiterated that it does not recognise any leadership claim by Israel Safo that contradicts what it describes as the founder’s succession directives.

The family expressed regret over the incident and appealed to members of the mission and the general public to remain calm while state authorities investigate the matter.

Police are expected to continue their investigations into the alleged shooting as the leadership dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission remains unresolved.
