First batch of Ghana Armed Forces recruits to report for appointment on March 18
The Ghana Armed Forces has finalized the selection of 2,000 recruits, forming the first of four batches scheduled for enlistment in 2026.
Successful candidates have been directed to report to their respective regional selection centres on Wednesday, March 18, at 9:00 a.m. to collect their appointment letters and prospectuses. The announcement was contained in a press release signed by Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director-General of Public Relations.
This initial batch includes 18 individuals who were injured during the El-Wak Stadium stampede, as well as five candidates sponsored by families of victims who lost their lives in the tragedy.
The Armed Forces also encouraged applicants who were previously disqualified due to minor medical conditions to seek treatment, noting that they will be reconsidered at no cost during a future review process.
According to the GAF, a strong pool of qualified candidates remains from the aptitude tests, many of whom may be considered for recruitment exercises beyond this year.
The military further expressed appreciation to all 16 Regional Administrations for their support in organizing the decentralized recruitment process, which was designed to make participation more accessible nationwide.
Additionally, the GAF confirmed that a request to recruit individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region—who assisted in last year’s helicopter crash rescue efforts—is under consideration for inclusion in the second training batch.
