YEA partners Shatta Wale’s SHAXI to create employment for Ghanaian youth
Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Malik Basintale is leading a strategic partnership with home-grown ride hailing platform, SHAXI owned by Shatta Wale to create sustainable jobs for Ghanaian youth.
The Youth Employment Agency is set to roll out a strategic partnership with SHAXI to create thousands of jobs for Ghanaian youth.
As part of this collaboration, YEA will support the first 2,000 vehicles that subscribe to the SHAXI platform with GHC500 worth of fuel coupons every month for six months.
This move is designed to ease the operational cost for drivers and encourage more youth participation in the transport business. Basintale also assured that SHAXI vehicles that operate on a 24-hour basis will receive additional incentives
This strategic partnership will ensure that at least two young people can be employed per vehicle, working in shifts, and maximizing both income and job creation potential.
YEA Chief Executive Malik Basintale announced that the Agency’s initial focus will be placing drivers with an incoming fleet of 150 electric vehicles, to which he has instructed to be given out for registration as SHAXI vehicles.
“I have instructed my team that all those 150 vehicles should be first registered on SHAXI before we get drivers out there for them,” he said.
Launched in 2021 by dancehall star Charles Nii Armah, known on stage as Shatta Wale, SHAXI has positioned itself as a home-grown alternative in Ghana’s growing ride-hailing market.
The YEA collaboration aligns with government efforts to tackle youth unemployment and to accelerate the transition to cleaner transport solutions.
